Too Hot for the Kitchen – Local Food Commercialization
Community Futures Centre West in partnership with Family Community Support Services/Parent Link Centre (FCSS/PLC) proposes to establish a commercial kitchen and storefront in Cochrane, AB. The goal is to provide a facility and support for the development and growth of small and home-based businesses involved in food production and/or preparation.
Space has become available on the main floor in a local building and the town is developing a satellite tourism centre. The community would like to develop the commercial kitchen and storefront in the remaining space to help grow local food-oriented businesses. FCSS is contributing the funds to construct the kitchen and storefront and the Town of Cochrane is developing the tourism centre. Visiting tourists should provide strong foot traffic to the store.
Partners include: Community Futures Centre West, FCSS/PLC, Town of Cochrane, Cochrane Activettes, Cochrane Environmental Action Committee, United Way, Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce, Pat’s Palate Pleasers, Avalanche Plumbing & Appliances, Red Shed Graphic Design, Gourmet to Go, Culinary Experiences, Bentley’s Books, Sticky Damn Fingers, Satellite Printing, Cupcakes! and More, Gryszko Harper Bouw Chartered Acountants, The Soul Studio, Shell Canada (Jumping Pound Complex), Dynastream Innovations, Purple Dragon Delights, Riverbend Interiors, Go Forth Institute, and Providence Ranch.
